When widow Mattie Rigsby (Ellen Burstyn) forgets she’s taken the cushions out of her favorite chair and sits in it, she gets stuck. That’s exactly where her life is, stuck. But when Mattie hears a sermon on helping “the least of these thy brethren,” and meets a troubled, teenage boy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) no one else wants, she’s forced to decide what her life is really about.
