I originally saw this on PBS Wonder Works in 1988 after losing my fiance through suicide. This title has affected me ever since.
The acting by todays standards may seem over-the- top, however, it does emphasise the attitude of that period toward the poor. This title still brings tears to my eyes while watching it, some twenty years later!
It appears that A Little Princess is currently unavailable and I pray it will be available again soon, if it hasn't already, and a DVD Edition/Transfer will become available at some time in the future.
I cannot recommend A Little Princess more highly as a welcome gift for young ladies (and not so young ladies) who enjoy a film that teaches the true value of friendship, manners, and respect for your elders even when they might be wrong.

This is one of the dearest films I ever seen. It also follows the book very closely. This is a must for any viewing library and is ageless. PLEASE put this out in DVD format.
